Will Trent renewed for season 5 over at ABC

While we do not think there was a lot of drama out there about whether or not Will Trent would be coming back to ABC for a season 5, isn’t it nice to still have the news official now? Well, we tend to think so!

Today, it was officially confirmed that we are going to be seeing the Ramon Rodriguez-led crime drama come back for another batch of episodes, and it comes on the heels of it continuing to generate extremely strong ratings on Tuesday nights. The adaptation started its run as a somewhat-under-the-radar midseason entry and it was not quite clear if it would break out at all; since that time, it has established itself as one of the best shows of its kind on the air.

From where we sit, there is certainly not any indication that Will Trent will be concluding anytime soon — so long as there are cases to solve, why would it? It still has compelling stories and beyond just that, the format here makes it so that it can always bring something new to the table. ABC also has a great thing going pairing it with High Potential, another show that has proven to be a breakout hit in a fairly short period of time.

As for when season 5 could premiere…

It is far too early to tell but from where we sit at present, we are hoping to see it come back at some point moving into January. Airing in the winter enables the show to air more consecutive episodes and fewer repeats and at this point, we tend to think that this is something the core audience appreciates … even if that means having to wait a while longer in between.
