‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Filming officially begins today!

Game of Thrones

As it turns out, today is not just the start of production for many network series that are set to begin airing new episodes this fall; it also marks the first day of shooting for a certain premium cable drama that has taken the world by storm: “Game of Thrones.”

In a post on Twitter, it was the on-set guru and behind-the-scenes writer Cat Taylor who confirmed the news with what we consider to be a very simple but happy message:

“We are officially rolling. Day one, Season 4. It has begun.”

For the cast and crew of the HBO hit, this means that we are at the beginning of what is going to be an extremely long and exhaustive process. Some of the key issues that the producers are going to be dealing with for this new season include having to travel between multiple countries (including Northern Ireland, Croatia, and Iceland), managing a variety of personalities in an enormous cast, getting the costumes and the props done correctly, and of course having the scripts perfected in time to shoot. This is not a series where it is easy to go back and change things, as the production cost is so high and many of the filming locations are so remote.

While there is no official release date yet for “Game of Thrones” season 4, expect the same sort of window that we had for season 3. Therefore, it will likely come on the air either on Sunday, March 30, or the following week on April 6 if they want to shift things back one week.
