American Horror Story season 13 filming: first look at Jessica Lange

It has been a long time coming but today, there is great news to finally share when it comes to American Horror Story season 13: Filming is underway!

In a new post on Instagram, Ryan Murphy Productions was kind enough to confirm that cameras are rolling on the milestone chapter in New York City. Meanwhile, they also shared a first look at Jessica Lange, who is back with the franchise for the first time in years. It remains to be seen what sort of role the industry icon will play, but this entire season is a homecoming for many including Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, and Kathy Bates. Ariana Grande will also be coming on board for the first time, having worked with Murphy previously over on Scream Queens.

For those who are waiting to learn when season 13 will premiere, this post is a good sign that we are actually going to see it come back at some point this fall. This has been traditionally when past seasons premiere, and it makes the most sense to air them there for a handful of reasons. Halloween is when shows of this genre are popular, and it also makes sense to roll them out then from the vantage point of familiarity, as well.

Now, we just have to hope that we get a season that is overall big, bold, and crazy — but also still focused in a significant way? One of the issues that these shows have had over the years is that come episode 7 or 8, they tend to spiral out of control a little bit. That is what makes the process of making them a little bit of a balancing act. We are just happy to have cameras rolling here again, especially after a long time off the air.
