Paradise season 2 finale: Are there ties to Denver airport theories?

This week’s Paradise season 2 finale on Hulu contained a number of fantastic moments for its characters — but did it also contain a nod or two to some real-life internet headlines?

Well, let’s just spend a moment to discuss, of all things, the Denver airport. We know that this is where the super-computer Alex is located, a place that is separate from the bunker but still accessible by Sinatra. She is so desperate in order to keep it safe that she refuses to speak about it to almost anyone, whether it be Link / Dylan or anyone else who tiptoes around it. We know that this computer has seemingly figured out how to manipulate time, and is the classic case of technology being at times too advanced for its own good … or is it? There is also a chance that it could prove integral for the future of humankind.

We will have more time to talk about Alex within the lens of the story. For now, let’s just keep having fun with the Denver airport. For many years, the place has actually been used as the setting for a number of real-life conspiracy theories, including that it houses a secret bunker, is a home for alien research, or a number of other things. There are real-life explanations that debunk a lot of the theories out there, but we tend to believe that Dan Fogelman and the writers chose the airport as the location for Alex as a playful wink to real-life headlines.

Also, doesn’t it make practical sense for Alex to be housed there? Sinatra clearly realized that it needed to be separate from the bunker in case something happened there, and to some extent, she may have used established architecture to help hide the computer in plain sight.
