Just in case you missed the big news yesterday, there are so many reasons to be excited regarding Bridgerton season 5! Filming has officially kicked off on the latest chapter of the Netflix romantic drama and beyond just that, we know that Francesca and Michaela’s relationship will be the main focus.

Do we understand why some viewers were hoping to see Eloise’s chapter first? Absolutely, but there was never a promise they would follow the books exactly. Also, the number of headlines drawn post-announcement is a sign in so many ways the producers chose to move in this direction.

So with cameras rolling, it does mean that we have an even easier time discussing what the future could look like here, especially since the producers have already expressed a desire to have a much smaller wait between seasons. The start of production this month means that they could be done at some point this year, and that opens the door for a late spring or summer 2027 launch. That may be more than a year away but at the same time, there are plenty of Netflix shows that would love to only be gone for that long.

In the interim, the biggest thing we have to hope for are a few more updates regarding what the story could look like beyond Francesca and Michaela, and whether or not there are more cast members coming on board. Viewers familiar with the source material know that there are certain scenes that will likely be included, as well as the overall shape of the story arc. We do just have to hope that it lives up to what so many people out there want, and that at the very least, there are promotional photos and the like revealed in order to better tide everyone over.
