If you have been excited already to see Bridgerton season 5 arrive over on Netflix, let’s just say that we have some great news!

Today, the streaming service officially confirmed that production is kicking off for the next version of the show. Not only that, but Francesca is going to be front and center! This is a slight deviation from the book series, which focused on Eloise front and center — however, we have known for a good while that the show is not always keen to follow the books in some direct manner. There is a natural ebb and flow that happens here.

So what more can we say about the new season now? Well, go ahead and take a look at the synopsis below:

“The fifth season of Bridgerton spotlights introverted middle daughter Francesca (Hannah Dodd). Two years after losing her beloved husband John, Fran decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons. But when John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza) returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.”

Ultimately, we do wonder if there is going to be some sort of time jump between seasons, mostly so that Francesca will have more time to sit in her grief. This is going to be a fascinating story for many reasons, especially since it does mark the first leading same-sex romance within the first five seasons. It is also the first one that really focuses on moving forward from loss in this sort of substantial manner.

In the end, we know that there is quite a bit to explore here, and we are eager to see the end result already.
