Following the big premiere tonight on PBS, do you want to know what is ahead entering The Count of Monte Cristo episode 2?

First and foremost, we should note that this is hardly the first adaptation of this epic revenge story. We have seen so many iterations of it over the years, so what will make this one stand out? That is, of course, something we will find out more over time. We do tend to think that it will at least be epic and full of adventure.

To kick things off here, let’s just share how PBS is describing the series at this point:

“The Count of Monte Cristo” is a lushly lensed adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ iconic masterpiece. In the epic series directed by two-time Palme d’Or and Oscar®-winner Bille August, Sam Claflin (“Daisy Jones and the Six”) stars as Edmond Dantes, a nineteen-year-old sailor who was falsely accused of treason and is imprisoned without trial in the Château d’If, a grim island fortress off Marseille, France. After many years of captivity he finally escapes and discovers treasure, making him one of the richest men in the world. Under the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo, he plans to take revenge on those who wrongly accused him. Ana Girardot (“The Returned”) and Jeremy Irons (“The Borgias”) also star.

What is the schedule ahead here?

Well, the network is keeping things fairly simple, as there is a new installment every single week. Here is how the network is describing episode 2 at this particular moment in time:

As Edmond loses hope in prison, he meets Abbé Faria, a priest who has long attempted to escape. As time passes and their bond deepens, Faria reveals to Edmond the location of a legendary treasure hidden on the island of Monte Cristo.
