Marshals renewed by CBS for season 2; premiere date hopes

Even though we are just two episodes into Marshals season 1 at CBS, the network has already rendered their verdict on the future — and they want a whole lot more!
Today, the powers-that-be 100% confirmed that they are giving a green light to the next chapter of the Luke Grimes drama, which also means more from the Yellowstone universe at large. This comes after the premiere episode has generated more than 20 million multiplatform viewers within its first seven days, making it the biggest premiere (excluding those boosted by NFL lead-ins) since Young Sheldon so many years ago.

In a statement confirming the news, here is what CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach had to say:
“MARSHALS delivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself as one of TV’s most powerful new series … The overwhelming viewer response speaks to the strength of the Yellowstone world, the bold character driven storytelling from the creative team and the dynamic cast performances led by Luke Grimes.”
When will season 2 premiere?
That remains a mystery, mostly because a reasonable amount here is going to depend heavily on how many episodes we get, let alone what is considered to be the right window. There could be a desire to make more to pair the series around the clock with Tracker, but there is appeal that comes from shorter runs simply to keep audiences engaged. These are discussions that we do feel are going to be explored more and more over time and with that, the only advice we can offer right now is to practice a reasonable amount of patience.
Hopefully, the second season will also be able to feature more people from the Yellowstone world — there is going to be plenty of potential for that in the weeks and months ahead.
