The Pitt season 2 episode 7: Where is Mel’s big story?
With The Pitt season 2 episode 7 happening a little later this week on HBO Max, this feels like a great chance to talk about Mel. Or, to be more specific, where in the world her story is!
After all, at the moment Taylor Dearden feels like one of the most forgotten cast members in the story and you better believe that we’re frustrated by it. She is one of the show’s most popular characters and yet, it feels like new characters like Ogilvie, Joy, and Emma are getting more attention than her. So far, her stories consist of an upcoming deposition and then also a head injury that led to Langdon temporarily looking after her.

So is there a chance that something could change in the near future here? It goes without saying that we want it, but actually getting it? Well, it feels like The Pitt is operating from a slightly different place this season than season 1, where the storylines were a bit more spread out. Episode 6, for example, was a huge spotlight on Dana. Moving forward, we tend to think we are going to get a similar spotlight on Mel, but it could be compressed into an episode or two. You can argue that it will revolve almost entirely around her deposition, which has been a great source of anxiety for her.
Is this an opportunity for a great performance? Sure, but we wish we saw more of how it was impacting her in the ER. After all, we do tend to think that she is still handling patients despite some of the loss in confidence that she has. It just feels like there is a great opportunity to see some new and exciting stuff for this character here, plus how the other doctors try and help her. From where we sit, it is a missed opportunity.
