Hijack season 2 episode 5: EP on Stuart return

We knew that Hijack season 2 episode 5 was going to have its fair share of big moments, and we got a huge one courtesy of Stuart. Obviously, Daniel is out there looking for information, and it made sense for him to go to the season 1 baddie for answers. Stuart is currently incarcerated, but is there a chance that he could have information?

Unfortunately, not so much. While it did seem as though Daniel convinced him to open up, much of what he said was blunt and not conducive to answers. He is disconnected from the Cheapside Firm and the past. He feels like he’s been left in prison to die and that is more or less it — just like he was first placed on the airplane to die in season 1. We do think there is a universe where he somehow escapes and becomes a part of a season 3, but that’s something for far down the road.

Speaking to Decider, Hijack executive producer Jim Field Smith indicates that there were plenty of reasons to bring Stuart back into the fold:

“Stuart and Sam have unfinished business. That’s very clear at the end of Season 1 … You know that’s not a resolved situation. And Stuart has unfinished business with his own organization. He’s thrown under the bus in Season 1, essentially. So they both have unfinished business.”

As we move into the final three episodes of the season, we are certainly curious to learn if Stuart has a role — beyond just that, though, we are equally eager to learn who the real central figure behind all of this is. That is the lingering question right now, as we have yet to meet them.
