Macy’s 4th of July: Watch Taylor Swift perform ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’

NBC LogoHow big of a star is Taylor Swift these days? Apparently, she can fill up the massive Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas without much of a problem at all. While the country music megastar was not present live for NBC’s annual “Macy’s 4th of July” special airing tonight, she did send in a performance of herself performing her smash hit “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” from her concert at the famously huge stadium.

When it comes to the actual style of the performance, it’s easy to be honest here in saying that this is basically just what you would have expected from her. We’ve seen this “Alice in Wonderland”-inspired staging before, but then again, it’s really hard to fault Taylor for something like this, given that it’s impossible to come up with a new artistic vision for a song every single performance on a show. There are other, more subtle differences that probably do start to stand out over time.

As for the actual connection here between this event and the Fourth of July, well … That’s debatable. We did love the line from Ben White on Twitter about the entire performance:

“Enjoyed watching @taylorswift13 singing ‘We Are Never Getting Back Together’ on Macy’s July 4th show. Song is obvs about US and England”

There were a number of other notable performances on the night over on NBC, which may as well be translated into the Macy’s Channel when it comes to holiday events. They already have the Thanksgiving Day Parade, after all, and this is only one of the many events that they work in part to sponsor with the historic network.

This show was hosted by “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon; if you want to check out some other highlights from that show this year, just be sure to visit the link here.
