The Rookie season 8 spoilers: Melissa O’Neil’s new tease

It has been a long time coming but in just a matter of days, The Rookie season 8 is going to premiere! What more can we say about it now?

Well, first and foremost, we know that the show will continue to utilize the same balancing-act strategy that we have seen from it in the past, one where we are going to get individual cases mixed with long-term arcs and opportunities to learn more about the main characters. Meanwhile, we also are hoping to learn a few more things about Chen and Bradford’s relationship — especially when a lot of what we’ve learned so far has been rather hopeful.

While Melissa O’Neil can’t give too much away when it comes to what’s happening with Lucy and Tim’s personal relationship, she did indicated to Collider that her character won’t be stuck on the night shift for some prolonged period of time:

She manages to get off the night shift rather rapidly, off the top of Season 8, and I think it has a lot to do with the necessity of what’s happening in the world of the show at that time. Half of our team is in Prague, and they’re dealing with a pretty high-stakes situation. I think we kind of just needed all hands on deck. So, it’s rather unceremonious, but pretty action-packed once we get into it.

Of course, this is not something that we were ever that worried about, mostly due to the fact that the show benefits from having all of the characters together in a relatively small amount of space. That is so much harder to do when Lucy is working while the rest of the team is asleep.
