Matlock season 2 spoilers: News on a holiday episode
One of the things that is so great about watching Matlock on CBS is that based on what we’ve seen so far, it feels like this show is capable of almost anything. Sure, you’ve got compelling and emotional long-term plots, but this is a series that has also been willing to do great procedural stories or character arcs that are a little more finite.
So, for the final episode of the calendar year on December 11, we are pleased to report that the Kathy Bates series is going to take some time to celebrate the holidays. However, there is going to be a ton of other stuff happening here at the same time.

“Call It a Christmas Gift” – With the holidays approaching, the team’s secrets start to come to light while they take on a harassment case involving the city’s fire department. Meanwhile, Matty and Edwin contemplate meeting Joey’s sister, on MATLOCK, Thursday, Dec. 11 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ Premium plan subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*.
Even in the midst of everything that is mentioned there, we do still think there is a good chance for a cliffhanger at the very end — and why wouldn’t there be? It really makes some element of sense that the show does something to create buzz around its 2026 return, and if there is one series that we have full confidence in to execute great twists, it is this one. Isn’t all the necessary evidence out there already?
