The Morning Show season 5: Will Jon Hamm return as Paul Marks?
There are a number of moving parts at the center of The Morning Show season 4 and its finale — because of that, is the door open for some great stuff?
In particular, it feels like the perfect time to have a larger conversation here about Jon Hamm and his role of Paul Marks. He came back at the end of this season, and it does feel like he and Alex may be realizing a little more that there is a “what if” aspect of their relationship that could be fun to play out further.

Speaking on the possibility of a Hamm return to Deadline, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt seemed eager to lay out what the future could hold:
In Season 3, Alex and Paul didn’t have very long to see what they might have had. When you do the timeline of it, they were together very, very briefly. It was almost like a drive-by thing where, like, ‘Oh, this could be a thing,’ and I think they’ll always be — I think when they’re in the room together, something happens, and he is just drawn to her. They’re both so high-achieving, are excited by someone they can’t really control, they’re a little unsure of, I think that’s a turn on for both of them. There’s definitely something left to play out there.
I think he did want to say, ‘I’m sorry for Season 3.’ And I also think whenever Alex turns up, his life becomes exciting. She’s the lady who blew off the rocket. She’s the lady who shows up and says, ‘Why don’t you put your entire business at risk by doing this deal with a sanctioned oligarch?’ It’s outrageous, but I do think these guys are such daredevils, right? They really want to climb Everest and do all these — adrenaline, he needs the adrenaline. This is a guy who wanted to go to Mars, and she gives that to him. He’s like, ‘Oh, let’s try this. Let’s roll the dice.’ I think that he’ll always be drawn to that aspect of her.
We recognize that this is not a 100% confirmation that we are going to see more of Hamm on The Morning Show, but we are optimistic thanks to the bonds he has with the cast and crew. There is a scheduling consideration given that he is the star of another show in Your Friends & Neighbors, but we do think it helps that it is also on the same streaming service.
