‘Under the Dome’ spoilers: Mare Winningham, Dean Norris to face off
The world of CBS’ “Under the Dome” has now found itself yet another addition, and this is a part that is shrouded in a certain level of mystery. In a new statement today, it was announced that Mare Winningham, most recently of the ratings-monster miniseries that was “Hatfields & McCoys,” has been cast to play an important role in the Stephen King adaptation.
For the moment, details are still pretty light as to what sort of role Winningham is playing, but here’s what we can say for now. The actress will be taking on the role of Agatha, a woman who on the surface certainly comes across as warm, sweet, and caring through and through, but is there something evil bubbling up underneath the surface? Big Jim is going to find out when he runs into her during an episode airing next month.
Here is what executive producer Neal Baer had to say about this casting, and his experience working with Winningham:
“I’m thrilled to be working with Mare Winningham on Under the Dome … She’s my good-luck charm: I worked with her on ER, as well as on Law & Order: SVU. She brings truth and believability to every role, and she will definitely leave viewers talking.”
It does certainly seem feasible that viewers would be talking about this show already, given that it launched to a massive 3.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic that puts it only behind “Revolution” as the top network drama to premiere in the past year. Now that the word and positive reviews are out, it will be intriguing to see how the show fares tonight.
