‘The Bachelor’ debate: Why Jef Holm should follow Sean Lowe as the leading man

Jef HolmWe assume at this point that you have heard the bold endorsement by Sean Lowe earlier this season: He’d like to see his former “Bachelorette” buddy Jef Holm take the reigns as the next “Bachelor” over anyone on Desiree Hartsock’s season, or any other guy when it comes to the show, for that matter.

We don’t know if Lowe really has that much pull in casting, but he may be right that when you look at all of the guys that are out there with the credentials to be perfect for this show, there really are not that many good choices. Why? Let us count the ways.

1. Ratings, ratings, ratings! – While Desiree’s numbers improved this week without “The Voice,” they are nowhere near where we saw them with Emily Maynard last year.

2. Lack of interest in Desiree’ guys – Have you heard anyone walking down the street talking about their crazed support for Chris Siegfriend, James Case, or some of the other boring guys left this season? We’re not getting “Bachelor” screams from any of them more so than guys who are on the show. Brooks Forester seems to be the most popular of the guys, but if you’re going to have a guy from Utah with a signature hairstyle, why not go for the original one? Jef had a big fan-base last year, and the finale between him and Arie Luyendyk Jr. may have actually been the best one this version of the show has ever had.

3. He’s still fairly unscathed – Despite the breakup with Emily, he really did not come across too terribly in the tabloids compared to what has happened to others in the past.

4. Something different – Jef brings a completely different sort of flavor to the show than Sean. Plus, he’s a nice change from what has been the show’s archetype for three of the past four years of an extremely muscular Texan. Plus, unlike Brad Womack, his business is more in water than bar beverages.

Do you agree? Disagree? Either way, let us know! Meanwhile, you can also click here to read up on what was the original endorsement of Jef as the main man.
