NBC’s ‘The Voice,’ John Lennon, and the sad-but-true video of the week

The Voice

If anyone ever goes on a singing competition like “The Voice” in the future and is told that their pitch is off, don’t worry: This video is proof that some of the biggest stars in music history were told the same exact thing.

This clip is making waves around the internet as we speak, and it features what would be the “blind audition” of John Lennon performing his trademark song “Imagine,” which is of course a track that has been remade and recorded by a number of other singing-competition contestants over the years. What’s particularly notable about this instance? Well, how about the fact that none of the coaches bothered to turn around for it?

The truth of the matter is that this could happen in real life, if a modern-day pop star chose to audition for the show. Most of them aren’t the best singers out there, and even Adam Levine is quick to mention on this show that there are constantly people who come on who are better singers than he is. It’s about having that total package of talent, performance quality, and stage presence, and this may be why some contestants who have won this competition have not gone on to do much of anything since.

However, Cassadee Pope is looking to shake up that reputation, and so is current champion Danielle Bradbery. If you want to get a little bit more insight into her past, and also what she plans to do with her music moving forward, all you have to do is click here.

“The Voice” season 5 will be back in action on NBC beginning on September 23, so we will have an opportunity at that time to see if the show really can deliver some more superstars to keep these videos from being made.
