‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley return to Comic-Con
As if there was ever any doubt, the cast of “The Vampire Diaries” is going to make their presence felt in a pretty significant way at Comic-Con in San Diego this year … as they have pretty much every year. So who are going to be the big names turning up? It’s almost everyone that you can hope for, with the word “almost” once again emphasized for impact.
Let’s start with the roster for the flagship series, which will hold its panel this year on Saturday, July 20. Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola, and Kat Graham (otherwise known as the five staples of the series) will all be present to dish on the new season, and executive producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries will hopefully hand out some nice teasers about the upcoming story.
Out of this group, the only major omission we see is Stephen R. McQueen, who returned as Jeremy in the finale and will seemingly be a big part of the new season. You could also argue Michael Trevino here, but who knows what sort of role he is going to have on the show next? The same goes for Zach Roerig, whose character of Matt always weaves his way in and out of the stories. Graham and Wesley are the actors who probably had the biggest amount of material in the finale, as Bonnie died, and we learned that there is someone else out there who looks quite a bit like Stefan.
Meanwhile, “The Originals” is also going to have a panel of its own the very same day, with Joseph Morgan, Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin and Charles Michael Davis all stopping by along with Plec. The only major omission here (at least among the well-known actors on the show) is Daniel Gillies, who may have a commitment elsewhere.
