‘Doctor Who’ season 8: ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Revenge’ alum among latest rumors
Welcome to the world of more random “Doctor Who” casting rumors! We’re going to approach these names with the same grain of salt that we approached much of the previous ones with. It’s hard to really believe any of these casting rumors given the track record and the precedent that already exist for these sort of things being wrong. Plus, it is our understanding that the show and the BBC are still pretty early on in the process, and are not going to rush into a decision when it comes to one of their biggest franchises.
Nonetheless, here are the three newest names (per The Mirror) that could be in the running following the much-publicized exit of Matt Smith in the past several weeks.
Julian Rhind-Tutt – Supposedly, the “Green Wing” actor was previously considered for the character, and he could be back in the discussions again based on some of the current whispers out there.
Burn Gorman – Considering that he was already on “Torchwood” for over 20 episodes, this is a little bit of a strange candidate to have here for The Doctor. Nonetheless, some of the actor’s other credits include “Game of Thrones” and a brief arc on ABC’s “Revenge.”
Emun Elliott – The “Threesome” star has actually also been on “Game of Thrones,” but in the first season rather than the third.
All three of these actors could be fine possibilities, but we’re sticking to our intuition that the person running the TARDIS on this upcoming season is going to be an actor that is not really that buzzed about in the press. For now, we just view all of this as smokescreens.
