NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Adam Levine joins Maroon 5 for ‘Today Show’ concert series

Adam LevineThere’s something very bizarre about watching a group like Maroon 5 perform on “The Today Show,” as the group did on Friday morning. What’s the issue? It’s mostly that this is a band used to performing shows later at night, and they are having to do it at the crack of dawn in front of people lining the streets. Not only that, but Adam Levine and company are mostly stuck on West Coast time thanks to rehearsals and Adam’s work on “The Voice,” which is mere days away from the finale airing on NBC. In other words, this performance happened before the band probably tends to wake up.

At one point during a brief interview with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie, Levine joked to them that it was “very hard” to sound great so early in the morning, but the band still did their best with a set of songs that included “Payphone,” “One More Night,” and their new single “Love Somebody.”

At one point in the chat, Levine even credited “The Voice” for helping the group to stay popular, and he may have a point. The group has had a number of #1 singles since Adam first joined the show, and prior to that was probably the quietest period in the band’s career before first bursting onto the scene with their album “Songs About Jane.”

Adam is really able to focus strictly on music this week since thanks to the elimination of Amber Carrington on the show last week, he no longer has a contestant in the competition. Of the three left, Michelle Chamuel is on Team Usher, while Danielle Bradbery and the Swon Brothers are with Blake Shelton.

What do you think about Adam’s performances? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Also, be sure to head over here if you want to see the first-week sales for reigning champ Cassadee Pope’s new single.
