‘Mad Men’ season 6 spoilers: Kevin Rahm teases more to come from Ted

What remains fascinating to us about “Mad Men” after six years is that while we do not love every episode, the show has done a pretty magnificent job at working to mold and include new characters into the mix on a season-by-season basis. Look, for example, at how they slowly evolved Megan Draper, have introduced the mysterious Bob Benson this season, or even the slow and steady growth of who is now one of our favorites in Ted. He is in many ways the anti-Don: A representation of a more modern time in which people don’t get drunk at work, and while he still has some serious problems (i.e. cheating on his wife by kissing Peggy), he at least goes about his life with a bit more respect.

What some readers may in particular be thrilled to hear now is that for this character, some of the best is still yet to come. Speaking in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kevin Rahm teases that there are things we will learn about Ted that are not apparent already. As for the storyline involving he and Elisabeth Moss’ character, he also elaborated on what their connection is and where it comes from:

“Obviously she’s an attractive woman, but I think she understands him and that’s a huge turn-on. I think it’s a lot about her drive and her talent. He doesn’t have the machismo thing, so for him to be able to work with a woman, that’s gotta be a little refreshing. And it goes back to the scene when he and Gleason were in the hospital and he’s trying to figure out Don –  ‘I don’t get it, what is this guy doing, it’s just a waste of energy.’ He never had that with Peggy. The minute Peggy joins Cutler, Gleason and Chaough she’s on the team; she’s solving problems as opposed to creating them.”

Nothing in this show is ever secure, but as someone who likes what the Ted character represents, we hope that season 7 will bring more of him. As for Bob Benson, either just reveal who you really are, or stop being so irritating!
