‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Julie Plec on bringing back the dead
Even when you have a show that is about vampires, werewolves, and hybrids, you do have to have a certain set of rules to abide by. This seems to be the philosophy of “The Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec, who is doing her part now in the wake of what happened with the revival of Jeremy to explain just what some of these rules really are (and trying to explain to some fans why there are no plans to bring back such beloved characters as Kol, Jenna, or Alaric on a permanent basis).
This new quote comes (via Wetpaint) from Plec’s time at the ATX Festival in Austin, where she described why she cannot bring every character that fans love back to life:
“We believe very much that death has to have real stakes. When we started knocking off people one by one in the first couple seasons, we knew there would be a way to revisit them in flashbacks.”
So with this being said, Plec still seems open to bringing back a number of actors for flashbacks in the future. This is why we believe that Kol in particular will have some sort of presence on “The Originals” in the future, since both he and Finn were a part of the first family of vampires for longer than we could ever possibly tabulate in years. (We also would not be surprised to see more of “ghost Alaric” in the future.)
Are there any dead characters that you would want to return on “The Vampire Diaries” moving into season 5? If you want to check out some more news when it comes to “The Vampire Diaries” and a pretty funny graduation-themed video, all you have to do is click here.
