‘True Blood’ season 6 spoilers: What would Nelsan Ellis like to see for Lafayette?
We’ve long proclaimed that Nelsan Ellis is one of the strongest actors on “True Blood,” but if we are being completely and totally honest, the show has not done a particularly amazing job over the past year of giving him anything to do. We do miss the days of Jesus being around, mostly because it gave us an opportunity to see a bit more of his romantic side, and also learn some more about his own powers to inhabit the spirits of the dead.
So if Ellis had his way, what would he like to see happen on the show moving forward? The answer may surprise you, and with that , we turn over to the comments he made in a recent interview with Today.com:
“I would love to see Lafayette get a girlfriend! I think Lafayette is bisexual … I don’t think the producers would be down for it, but wouldn’t it take the audience by storm?! Lipstick on his lips kissing a girl wearing lipstick, and he’s like, ‘This is my girl’?! They could be wearing matching bandannas. I think it would be awesome. Anyway, that’s my fantasy!”
It’s hard to argue too much against what Ellis wants, mostly because he has played the character and understands him better than probably anyone, save for maybe the writers. We do think he’s right, though, in saying that this would never happen, if for no other reason than that we think a number of people identify with the character being the way he is right now, and changing it so drastically would potentially create a shocking effect that some wouldn’t be too comfortable with.
What do you think about Ellis’ comments? As always, we want to hear from you below! If you want to read some more thoughts on the upcoming season from someone totally different in new showrunner Brian Buckner, all you have to do is click here.

I think that the actor who plays Lafayette is strongly religious and I am surprised he has done gay so well. And I think that insinutating that Lala is bisexual is an indication of just how much he doesn’t know his own character after all…
