‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Alex Gansa on questions to be explored

You may still have several months to go until the third season of “Homeland” premieres on Showtime, but we are pleased to report right now about some of the story-lines the series will be focusing on when it comes to some of the overall questions that the show left dangling.

On the day before Memorial Day, series executive producer Alex Gansa made an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” and in an interview with George Stephanopoulos, he let us in on some of the story details that the writing staff have been working on since close to the beginning of the year:

“The issue in this season is, what happens if it were learned that a major attack on the United States was sponsored by a state? These are the big concerns that we’re going to deal with in the first sweep of episodes … And then there’s the big question about, you know, where Brody is? Does anybody know that Carrie helped him get out of the country, and will they ever see each other again?”

There are of course no answers to these questions just yet, and nor will there be by the time the season actually starts airing. We’re going to be waiting for at least a little while before we get some answers, and before we see Brody and Carrie in a place where it’s possible for them to see each other again. (Personally, we would be beyond shocked if the show never touches on this subject before season 3 comes to a close.)
