Stranger Things 5: EP on complicated cast question
Rest assured that Stranger Things season 5 is absolutely coming to Netflix in the future, and filming will start whenever the SAG-AFTRA strike ends.
Is there a lot to be excited about here? You better believe it, with a big thing being getting closure for all of these different characters. Of course, there is also another question of how the powers-that-be are going to handle the very-real issue of the cast getting older. They are supposed to play young people, and even when filming was going to begin back in the late spring, there were some questions as to how they could still play these parts. We tend to think that now, those have only increased tenfold.
Rest assured, though, that the powers-that-be have more than figured this out, which makes sense given that it has more resources money-wise than almost any other show in history. Speaking on this subject further to Variety, here is some of what executive producer Shawn Levy had to say:
“We’ve already watched the cast of our show grow up in the public eye, and between 12 and 22, every human being changes profoundly … That being said, our hair and makeup and wardrobe department are pretty exceptional, using costumes and wigs and makeup. The ’80s are also our friends in returning these young adult actors to their iconic Hawkins characters. So we’re going to use all the all the tools available to us. And I know our cast is as eager to get back to work as the rest of us.”
So long as the makeup and hair are 100% on-point, we honestly don’t think that it will be that much of a focus for anyone watching. Instead, we tend to think that this priority is going to be tied more to actually seeing all of the events play out on-screen. This world can be so immersive, and given the stakes entering the final episodes, it will likely be more that way than ever now.
