‘The Vampire Diaries’ finale spoilers: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev’s familiar ground

While we imagine that the death of Damon or Elena on “The Vampire Diaries” would result in a full-on revolt, we do have to give some kudos to executive producer Julie Plec and the writers. After all, they are doing a pretty great job of managing to make some diehard fans start shaking in their boots.

Take, for example, this: Do you remember when this photo attached here from Thursday’s finale first came out? Were you worried about what was happening between Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev’s characters? As it turns out, you really should be. According to a new report from TV Guide, the wound that Elena is carefully checking out here is one that bears some similarity to something that Damon suffered in the series’ past. What is it? If you are a diehard fan, you should really be able to figure it out.

Luckily, there could be a way to figure out this problem, but the options to do so may be very drastic, and could change the course of the characters forever. We know that there is a cure out there, but will Damon need to take it? It’s possible that he could find another way still, but he has to be one of the leading candidates at the moment for who will end up ingesting the infamous cure by the time the episode ends. (We have heard for weeks that someone is going to end up taking it, and you still have to consider Elena a strong possibility.)
