Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars season 1 finale: Who won?
Ultimately, we anticipated that there will be a lot of competition with Caroline, Lan, and Chris all competing for the grand prize. They’ve overcome a lot to get to this point, but the biggest challenge moving forward is pretty clear — they have to sell their personal brands to a large number of people, and show that they can handle just about every aspect of being a food celebrity. A part of us felt like Caroline was the favorite in advance, mostly because she’s been presented all season as a really tenacious competitor and someone who puts everything on the line — even when not all of her ideas actually worked at the end of the day.
So what happened over the course of the hour? Well, one thing that was really fun was that each of the remaining finalists really got an elaborate showcase for what they are trying to highlight about themselves and their brand. They all felt unique, and they did have some help courtesy of past contestants.
Even once the presentations were made, it still wasn’t super-clear what would happen. Everyone came across as passionate and if nothing else, this entire finale was a great commercial for each one of them.
Now, let’s get to the final result
Who was actually crowned the winner at the end of the day? Chris! While we do think the other finalists may have performed better at times during the season, his SmartCups probably has the highest upside of any of the three products. That goes a long way, and so does his passion for making it work.
In the end, we’re just glad that this show as a whole existed here in America after previously finding some success in the UK. When you think about Ramsay’s extensive culinary empire, it is nice to have at least one show be a little bit different from the rest of the pack.
