NBC’s ‘The Office’ series finale: Melora Hardin reflects on time as Jan
Earlier this spring, we brought you a farewell video for “The Office” featuring one of its most high-profile guest stars: Will Ferrell. Now, the video that we have to share is someone who made a myriad of appearances as Jan over the course of the show’s run in Melora Hardin.
Hardin at times gets emotional in the video below (via TVLine), explaining how she has never viewed her character as a “b**ch” in the same way that some of the show’s fans have, and instead she just sees her as a woman struggling to maintain any sort of identity as a woman in a world stuffed full of men. She also knew that Steve Carell’s Michael Scott was the last person in the world that she had any business being with romantically, and yet she found herself coming back for more for over and over again.
It only makes sense that one of her favorites episodes of all during the show’s run would be “The Dinner Party,” mostly because we’re not quite sure that we have seen an episode of the show that is quite as awkward as this one when it comes to the downfall of Michael and Jan as a couple. Hardin last appeared on the show earlier this year, when Dwight discovered while out with his minion Clark that she was back in business running a company, and he left Clark there with her to be her boytoy for a little while. (It’s fair to say that his life has never been the same ever since.) She also has a kid now, but she chose to have it after her relationship with Michael came to an end.
