‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 23 preview: The return of laser tag!

Who doesn’t love a good game of laser tag? For Barney Stinson, this is the sport of kings, his version of the Kentucky Derby and the Super Bowl rolled into one.

However, Neil Patrick Harris’ character is going to be playing a very different version of this game on Monday night’s new “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode, one that specifically includes playing against his future father-in-law. In an attempt to try and bond with a man who is in some ways still a man-child, Robin’s dad (played yet again by Ray Wise) decides to take part in a “friendly” game of laser tag with Barney, which we are pretty sure does not turn out to be extremely friendly. Not only is Barney extremely competitive, but he seems to be giving some of the kids on his team the under-18 version of steroids: Tons and tons of candy.

While we know that this is not the only story for the half-hour, it is all that the show is giving us right now. In actuality, the final two episodes of “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 are going to focus pretty heavily on what happens to get Barney and Robin closer to being married, along with Ted finally getting himself in a position to where he can meet the future mother of his children and be ready to allow her into his life. For example, he’s finally going to be getting that house together that he has talked about for years on end.
