ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 2 finale spoilers: Creator promises end to Initiative story

“Revenge” certainly has had its fair share of shocking moments throughout its second season, whether you are talking about the death of Amanda Clarke, Emily seeing her foster brother, or Conrad’s attempts to run for public office. However, at the same time it is rather hard to deny that there have also been moments that caused many people’s hair to stand on end. For example, what has been with the Initiative as a storyline? It by far has to be the most confusing part of the entire season, mostly because unlike with the Grayson family, you’re dealing with a pretty mysterious entity that keeps their goals pretty close to the vest.

For those of you who are not big fans of this story, we at least have some good news coming your way: You’re not going to have to see very much more of it. Speaking to TVLine in a new interview, executive producer Mike Kelley had the following to say about not only the end of the Initiative story, but how they also plan on shutting the door to it:

“You’ll find out exactly what the Initiative does: They profit off of fear. When you can predict how people are going to behave in the wake of a disaster, you can put your money in places where you’re going to make a lot of it… They do something quite terrible in order to profit, and it ends up taking the life of one of our characters … [However,] we will be resolving the Initiative plot in a pretty profound way.”

With this in mind, you have to wonder what season 3 will be about: will the enemies strictly be the Grayson family, or will the show expand beyond that in some way with new characters? Sadly, we’re going to have to wait most of the summer to find out.
