ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 2, episode 19 preview: Fitz apologizes to Olivia

In just under a week, “Scandal” is going to be back on the air for the first of four straight season 2 episodes, and it is fair to say that you better get your hankies ready: things are going to get emotional very quickly, especially between Olivia Pope and a certain object of her affections.

The scene from the sneak peek below takes place from Olivia’s hospital bed, where none other than Fitz tries to comfort her by saying everything in his heart: that he loves her and wants to be with her, but he was scared and some of his barrage of emotions led to him making the decision to choose the Presidency and his career over being with her.

Is Olivia buying this? Not exactly, as she rightfully claims that she was abandoned by the men, even if she had to know already that this guy was not exactly the model of good behavior.

However, now that these two have had this discussion, it does of course beg the following question: where do they go from here? Even if there are feelings between them, there also happens to be some other love interests floating around. Fitz, after all, has Mellie (if you can even count her as a love interest), while Olivia also is dealing with a certain someone in Jake who claims to have feelings for her. Of course, Jake also has ties to Fitz in the form of a mission given to him, so who knows what Scott Foley’s character is really after at this point?
