TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 3 spoilers: Show boss on what to expect
Has “Dallas” been picked up for a third season yet? Sadly no, but based on some of the evidence that we shared yesterday about the show compared to some of the other series airing on TNT away from the summer months, we have to believe that it will be pending some last-minute shocker resulting in a fan uproar.
So if we are to play the assumption game and figure that the show is coming back, this does of course lead directly into the next question: what are we probably going to see? Speaking in a post-mortem of the finale to TV Guide, executive producer Cynthia Cidre listed off some of the possible pairings and storylines that she would love to explore further on the show:
“Obviously the Elena/Joaquin relationship. John Ross and Pamela’s marriage. John Ross/Emma. Emma/Judith. Judith/Ryland. Christopher without Elena.”
Cidre also said that part of the reason to officially kill off Pam during the finale was because of the statement released by Victoria Principal, in which she explained rather bluntly that her wish was to keep the character in the past. The positive that comes out of it is that it does allow some of the other stories to truly move forward, which could lead to us meeting both some new characters along with possible other faces from the show’s past. (Cidre confirmed that producers reached out to many former stars of the show, but not all of them had the room in their schedules for the J.R. Ewing funeral episode.)
Is there one story in particular you want on “Dallas” season 3? If you want to read some more news on the show’s renewal hopes, all you have to do is visit the story over at the link here.

I would love to see Bobby’s son by Jenna, Lucas, show up at Southfork and make John Ross look like a saint. If Priscilla Presley, like Victoria Principal doesn’t want to return maybe Morgan Fairchild could take back the role.

I love the new Dallas as much as the old and yes…Josh Henderson is John Ross Ewing Jr. Perfect casting there….Season Finale was excellent!!! Here is hoping there will be a season 3 and beyond..although it will never be the same without Larry Hagman….I do think the potential is great.

I remember watching the original Dallas with my family as a kid and loving it. I had the rumors years ago of these movies that were going to be made using big name stars to play the lead roles and I was a little upset by that. Then when the new series started last year started I was so thrilled. The original cast members and a continuation of the story line 20 years later. I thought was going to be cool., especially since I’m close to the same age as John ross and Christopher are supposed to be. I thought this 2nd season was better than season 1. I’m am really hoping the show gets picked up for a few mor seasons. It is better than most of the other crapnon today.. I think loyal fans would be very upset it if isn’t renewed.

This show is awesome. KEEP it. John Ross is “Sexy” but Emma has to go. But the end was a shocker but then he is JR’s son. Hopefully he will keep Pamela Rebecca. I love them together.

The last episode was turned as a final.
Two Importante characters died: Pamela Ewing and JR Ewing.
Donna Culver Krebbs, Dusty Farlow, Mitch Cooper, Katherine Wentworth, Jenna Wade, James Beaumont are of no interest!
Incomprehensible – curiosity to make return:
Kristin Sheppard (returned in the episode of the Devil),
Rebecca Barnes-Wentworth (Now 88 years Mother de Pamela),
Mark Grayson,
Patricia Sheppard (Now 90 years Mother of Sue Ellen),
Carter McKay (Now 88 years and returned in Dallas: War of the Ewings),
Angelica Nero and April Steven Ewing.
I think that only formidable ABBY EWING shall have of the interest.
It is better preferred Guest of the same period, after Lee Majors and Judith Light :
it shall be interesting to see David Soul, Lynda Carter, Mellissa Gilbert, Jaclyn Smith, Robert Conrad, Lindsay Wagner… Lend strong hands in Dallas season 3.

Keep Dallas going with Josh Henderson as J.R. he is his Daddy’s Son and just as coniving and maybe more so than Larry Hagman. He just needs good writers and scripts, also the writers of the last episode of season 2 are to be COMMENDED in the way it was revealed abut J.R. being shot. No one could have done a better job of writing on that episode, TOTALLY UNEXPECTED. Larry Hagman was the best and in real life DIED OF CANCER, R.I.P. Can’t wait for season 3 I have watched Dallas since the begining in 1978 and it is the best there ever was only MASH could out do it.

The story lines that were built on the final episode is plenty to keep Season 3 busy. Basically, this was the episode that kind of closed the old chapters and brought forth the young generations trials and tribulations. I absolutely love the new Dallas and would be very disappointed it it wasn’t renewed.

I agree with most of what Reed said. The show needs a change of pace and a “tune-up”. First of all, this show should have been done YEARS ago. Respectfully, I remember seeing Larry Hagman’s condition in 2010 when we first heard about the reboot and thought, “Oh no, they need to get this up and running much sooner than 2012”. Second, the show is really lost without JR. There were a couple episodes where his 10 minutes were the only good part of the show. Having this show without JR is like “Looney Tunes” without Bugs Bunny. Third, John Ross needs some personality. He lacks charisma and the funny “zings” that JR always used.
Fourth, no more Drew or recast him. How can the Ramos family be seen as a formidable opponent to the Ewings when he is always sweating with a back-pack? Fifth, more soapy goodness (make out scenes, romance, classic violins backgrounds, close-ups) and less dead bodies and weird music.

Speaking of John Ross, we all know sex sells, and unfortunately women have been exploited for decades because of it. HOWEVER, I won’t be quite so upset about it as long as the men get equal treatment!! More Josh Henderson…on my!!! He is the perfect choice for JR’s son.

Please, please keep dallas going. This new cast is great. Part of me was so disappointed in John Ross at the end of the finale for cheating, but he is JR’s son, so I suppose he had to go there. I am so sick of reality tv, and this show brings back such memories for me. I look forward to seeing how they keep JR/Larry’s spirit around. I really look forward to seeing John Ross! :)

I don’t agree. I think Cynthia Cidre has lots more fantastic stories to create for further seasons of ‘Dallas’. Season 3 is a must. Need more story lines centering around the families at Southfork. The new and old work brilliantly. Gary, Val and Lucy back at Southfork now JR has gone. More of Afton. Larry is sorely missed as JR. Cliff is fantastic and more evil than ever. Come on TNT announce it soon. We can’t wait. Also get a better UK station to show it. We deserve a better viewing time too.

Grace, while the new reboot is good, the original is still far better for obvious reasons. The new reboot’s writing is lacking. No indepth conversations due to too many commercial breaks. Also, characters from the original series come and go, “appearing and disappearing” out of and into thin air as needed. The writers need to step up their game. Also, as another poster wrote the body count is pretty stark. Cliff Barnes, for all intents and purposes, is straight up mafia, which is why he being in a Mexican jail surprises me. He should not be there for long, if reality has any sway with the writers. The plotline seems exciting enough, it’s the dialogue that is lacking. Anne needs to go, she serves no real purpose, and the Barnes-Ewing feud should continue on through Pamela Rebecca, along with John Ross vs Christopher vs Elena Ramos. Yes, the reboot has many possibilities and much potential, but the writers need to step it up.

The show should move forward with the cast as it is. John Ross is the NEW JR and will keep us just as annoyed as JR did. I can’t wait to for season 3 of the NEW Dallas!!!! I love the characters and story line.

I think there were too many doors opened during the season 2 finale to not have a season 3. Some I stated earlier, but these are my talking points: 1. Jr., although it was his wish, was still murdered and another man framed for it. That can be explored at some future point when Cliff Barnes gets out of prison and being a billionaire, Cliff Barnes will get out. 2. Pamela Rebecca will reunite with Cliff once the JR. murder frame-up collapses and John Ross’s infidelities come to light. Once this happens, Cliff will regain control of Barnes/Ewing Global. 3. Drew is still out there, responsible for the Ewing methane/oil rig explosion. Can’t let that crime go unsolved now, can we? 4. Elena, filled with jealous rage over her family being cheated out of prime oil land, as well as her share of Ewing Energies, is now seeking revenge. This is definitely an angle to be explored as she is now allied with Cliff Barnes. 5. Emma, still a junkie, will make mischief and mayhem at Southfork having an affair with John Ross. Yes, the writing will have to be excellent, but there is much fertile ground to cultivate for season 3 and beyond. Will the writers, producers, directors, cast and crew be up to the task? If there is a season 3 we shall see…………..

I don’t see why there will be a season 3 when the show clearly has nowhere else left to go. I read the tv guide interview and all the things that Cynthia Cidre said she’d like to explore for season 3 sound wholly boring to me. No JR, no Pam and no Katherine. She hinted Katherine might not actually be dead, but after the amount of interviews given by the cast where it was teased that Pam was coming back when Cidre knew the whole time that it was never going to happen makes me very distrustful of anything she says.
I don’t believe what was said about the former cast members being too busy either. Susan Howard put out a statement saying she would have loved to have been at JR’s funeral but she simply wasn’t asked.
