‘The X Factor’ USA season 3 rumor: Is Kelly Rowland replacing Britney Spears?

It’s that time of year again when Fox needs to start making decisions on the future of their “X Factor” USA judging panel, so you know what that means: more rumors straight from the British press! Yes, it’s pretty ironic that this is coming from across the pond, but that is just what seems to happen every season for whatever reason. Remember to take this with a grain of salt.

According to the Daily Mail, Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child is under heavy consideration to replace Britney Spears on the panel for “The X Factor” USA. When it comes to her experience with the show, this claim makes some sense: she was on the panel for the British version of the show back in 2011, though she was replaced after a year by Nicole Scherzinger, who seemed to mesh better with Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, and Tulisa Contostavlos.

However, the fact that Nicole was brought overseas after a season suggests that this move is certainly possible for Kelly, and there were even reports last year saying that she was going to be a judge for the American show. The two biggest reasons we could see Simon Cowell doing this are that she is familiar to audiences thanks to her work with Destiny’s Child, and she also is not going to cost nearly as much as Britney Spears did to bring on board.

At the end of the day, though, we really see this gig being more about chemistry and personality more than anything else. This is what made “American Idol” work so well, and was Blake Shelton really an international star before “The Voice”? He certainly wasn’t outside of the country community. We hope that Cowell really takes advantage of an opportunity to test out some candidates before making a decision, just to make sure things fare much better than they did last year.
