Is Scott Speedman leaving Grey’s Anatomy, Nick Marsh?
The first thing that we should note here is rather simple: From the very start of this story, we have been preparing to see the exit of Speedman. Why? He was bumped from a series regular to recurring entering season 19, which we took to mean one thing: He would be around for however long Pompeo was. Nick Marsh was brought back primarily to be a love interest for Meredith, which was something many fans first wanted when he was introduced years ago. The two have a natural back-and-forth, and have shown to be ambitious and caring in their own ways.
Yet, Meredith had decided tonight to depart because it was best for her daughter, and she indicated to Nick that he was not going to beg him to love her. If he wanted to be with her and be in her life moving forward, they would figure it out.
Well, here’s the thing: After being down in the dumps and beating himself up, Nick finally had the proper pep talk he needed to chase after Meredith at the airport. This whole scene was straight out of a romantic comedy, with him driving there while also being stuck in traffic for most of the way. We think he viewed this flight as his big chance to really show he was committed. This was his big gesture! Unfortunately, he didn’t make it in time … but he still had to find a way in order to make his voice heard.
Well, here’s the thing: This wasn’t a romantic comedy. Nick tried to call Meredith, but she couldn’t hear him and said that he’d call her when she was settled. That’s it … for now. We tend to think that Speedman will be gone for a while, but we could see him later on — think in terms of the season 19 finale.
