‘Bones’ season 8 finale spoilers: Meet Pelant’s ‘accomplice’
Even though you may not have seen much of Pelant on “Bones” over the course of the past several episodes, you had to know that this character was going to be coming back up eventually. Just as Sherlock Holmes has Moriarty and “Psych” has Mr. Yang, this is the sort of villain that can really push Booth and Brennan to the height of their capabilities … and the fact that he’s already escaped their grasp a few times has to be more than a little bit frustrating.
What is sure to be equally troubling for the pair moving forward is that when Pelant does return for the upcoming season 8 finale, he’s not going to be alone. TVLine reports that “Super 8” actor Beau Knapp has been cast in the role of Zane Reynolds, a member of a religious cult who has a serious ax to grind against the FBI, as his family was supposedly killed by them a decade prior.
So what is the connection between Zane and Pelant? At the moment, the answer appears to merely be that Booth has a suspicion that he is taking orders from our token villain, and that his target is going to inevitably be some of the folks within the Jeffersonian. As for whether or not he succeeds, that’s an entirely different story; as a matter of fact, he may be able to lead Booth and Brennan to Pelant in a way that they have not been able to in a while, as they have been distracted with all sorts of minor cases, their relationship, and Sweets staying with them for a time.
