NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope unveils new music
Typically, it takes artists around four or five months after winning a singing competition to start to get some new music out to the world, and with that in mind, the time really seems to be perfect for one Cassadee Pope of “The Voice” season 3. To make matters even better for her, you also have to remember that this weekend is the Academy of Country Music Awards, and with her new-found desire to get into this genre after working with Blake Shelton, is there really a better time for her to make her stamp on the world?
The song below (from a recent performance in Las Vegas) is called “Easier to Lie,” and it combines a little bit of Cassadee’s pop / rock roots with a little bit of country. It’s basically the amalgamation of all of her musical influences over the course of the past year, and it works pretty well for her.
But will Cassadee be able to break the curse of “The Voice” winners failing to really get anywhere when it comes to their musical careers? That’s still the question on our mind. Javier Colon’s album petered out pretty quickly, and season 2 champion Jermaine Paul has managed to disappear off the map even faster than that. While she’s working within a community that she feels at home in, country radio can be a beast for any artist, especially women, to crack in to. Luckily, she does have Blake at her side, and he certainly knows much more of how to help her than he did Jermaine, who really could not be any more different from him in terms of genre.
