‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 premiere spoilers: What’s next in King’s Landing?
Following the epic Battle of Blackwater that we saw to close off season 2, it should be pretty widely assumed that the show is not going to be diving headfirst straight back into war in the city when the new season begins. Rather, there will be drama of a much different variety as we see the subtle inter-workings between characters new and old following the arrival of Margaery Tyrell and also Tywin Lannister as the new Hand of the King. Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, here is what executive producer D.B. Weiss had to say:
“Coming out of end of the last season the Lannisters, with the help of the Tyrells, had won the war. But just because they’re not fighting with maces and swords doesn’t mean a state of war is not ongoing. The people are still jockeying for position every bit as much as if they were on a battlefield. It’s just war by other means … so there’s the Lannisters we’ve loved and now there’s Natalie Dormer and Diana Rigg as [Margaery Tyrell and Lady Olenna] and the interplay between those families is so fun. You want to see what happens when they get together.”
Of course, you can pretty well assume that physical war will start back up here eventually, especially when you consider just how many people out there are interested in seizing the Iron Throne for themselves.
Do you think a somewhat-peaceful King’s Landing should be an interest sight to behold on “Game of Thrones” season 3? If you want to read some more scoop from Emilia Clarke about Dany, you can do so just by visiting the story over here.
