‘True Blood’: Season 6 premiere date will be…

For those of you eagerly awaiting the return of Sookie Stackhouse to TV, we now have some good news: HBO has finally confirmed the premiere date for “True Blood” season 6. At the end of the day, this date shouldn’t really come as much of a shock to anyone: Sunday, June 16 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.

When you talk about timing, this date is one week after the end of “Game of Thrones” season 3, which means that the premium cable network is doing the smart thing in, much like AMC is doing with “The Walking Dead” and “Mad Men,” going from one original series on Sunday nights directly to another. We assume that “The Newsroom” season 2 will likely follow the vampire drama up, but there is no confirmed premiere date for it just yet.

One previously-announced change that is still intact for “True Blood” is that season 6 will officially still have ten episodes, and this was a move originally brought on in order to accommodate a shooting schedule that allowed for new mom Anna Paquin to have some time off. We also have a feeling that such actors as Alexander Skarsgard and Joe Manganiello also probably don’t mind, especially when you consider all of the film and guest-starring roles on other shows that they have stockpiled over the past couple of years.

While there is not much known yet about the storyline for the new season, it is believed that Sookie and Jason Stackhouse will spend some of their time hunting down the vampire in Warlow who was responsible for the death of their parents; meanwhile, Eric and some of the vampires will likely try to deal with Bill’s new transformation into some sort of vampire god.
