‘Once Upon a Time’ spin-off has ‘Wonderland’ title; Sophie Lowe to play Alice
Finally, we know some more details about the potential “Once Upon a Time” spin-off series … including the name of the woman who is set to play Alice on the show.
Sources have confirmed that the pilot now has a title in “Once: Wonderland,” which on the surface certainly gives credence to the idea that executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are going for an “american Horror Story” type of feel with this show, and making each separate season about a different world visited on the show. (Granted, this is still unconfirmed.) In addition to that, we also know now that Australian actress Sophie Lowe (virtually unknown to American audiences) has landed the lead role. As you may recall, this show was originally envisioned to feature Sebastian Stan’s character of the Mad Hatter, but scheduling conflicts rendered this impossible.
So will this pilot be picked up to series? It will be shot following the “Once Upon a Time” season 2 finale, but unfortunately, we’re not quite so sure it is going to work out. Why? The biggest issue it currently faces is simple that the ratings for the flagship show have fallen so much this spring that it is no longer a smash hit on the network. While a season 3 is all but guaranteed, it’s a little harder to greenlight a spin-off when you know that the peak of your ratings is probably not going to be that high (even if people do love the “Alice in Wonderland” story).
What do you think about the name of this spin-off, and do you want to see it get made? If you want to read even more news about the second season of the drama, you can do so over at the link here.
