‘Arrow’ episode 18 review: Is Sara Lance alive?
What a great episode of “Arrow” this week. Ultimately, we had a little bit of everything: a great standalone storyline, some revelations about the show’s mythology, a reminder that the Dark Archer is still out there, and then even a little moment for fans who ship both Oliver / Laurel and Oliver / Felicity. (When he touched her shoulder at the end of the episode, we nearly died.)
The standalone part of this week’s episode was pretty simple, as it revolved around a vigilante who was going through The Glades and killing everyone that he considers dangerous to the area. This was a problem at first, but it became far worse when he went after Thea’s new boyfriend in Roy Harper. It took everyone (though Diggle was a little underutilized) to figure this out; and most importantly, this near-death experience may have actually convinced Roy to shape up.
As for what may be important in the weeks ahead, it turns out that Laurel’s mother was of course wrong about whether or not Sara was still alive, which was a little bit of a blow only in that Laurel was starting to really believe it. Sooner or later, the Lance family has to move forward, and in agreeing to have dinner with Oliver (even if it is not romantic), this may be a first step.
Meanwhile, the Dark Archer re-appearance certainly is a reason for concern, especially as it starts to become more and more apparent that it is The Glades, the site of the poor and the needy inside of Starling City, that is going to be the battleground in the weeks to come. We don’t know what is going to happen with this moving forward, but it is certainly going to be interesting.
