‘Royal Pains’ season 5 spoilers: ‘American Horror Story’ star books arc

Who knew that on this coming season of “Royal Pains,” there would be a visit from the Angel of Death? If nothing else, we do at least know now that the woman responsible for playing this part has booked a multiple-episode arc to appear on the USA drama.

Sources have confirmed that none other than the talent Frances Conroy is set to play the character of Blythe Ballard on the show, a notorious resident of the Hamptons who runs in a number of powerful social circles. We’re comparing her right now to Victoria Grayson of “Revenge,” though we haven’t seen her yet to determine whether or not she is as high on the evil scale.

This casting does give Hank and Evan someone new to contend with in the early goings of this coming season, and it already feels as though we are being set up for something rather interesting. The cliffhanger from the wedding special last December pertaining to whether or not Hank was going to full recover from the explosion at Boris’ manor, and if not, what it means for him and for the show as a whole.

Filming for season 5 (at least according to Deadline) is going to be significantly more varied than we saw in season 4, and we’re also going to be seeing a number of other guest stars turn up during the 13-episode season this summer. We don’t really know what the future for any of these characters holds, but we will be rather thrilled if the high level of quality established last summer continues.
