‘New Girl’ season 2 spoilers: Are Nick and Jess set to have a date?

Just in watching this past new episode of “New Girl,” it was pretty well apparent that season 2 is not going to end without some sort of movement on the Nick and Jess front. We don’t know whether or not the two are going to get together and become a couple, but it is clear that there are still feelings there judging from the fact that Zooey Deschanel’s character was able to seduce him over something as simple as a parking spot … but then she couldn’t convince herself to move on by hooking up with another guy.

So when are these two going to take things to another level? Well, E! News is reporting that an upcoming episode (one that we’ve learned will be the 22nd of the season) will actually feature the two characters having a dinner date inside of a restaurant. However, there is a twist that makes things a little bit more complicated: while these two are going out, something will go haywire when an unexpected guest from the past turns up.

So who is this guest? That is still a mystery, but at the moment the leading candidates have to be Sam, Caroline (Nick’s ex played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis), or even his upcoming potential love interest Shane. Most other love interests over the past two years are two unimportant to really be a factor in the episode, and we can’t see anyone other than an ex really playing much of a role at all in derailing the pair’s possible relationship.
