‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 16 preview: Ian Somerhalder’s ‘good time’
Thursday night’s new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” was without a doubt one of the saddest to be produced to date. After all, we had to say goodbye to Jeremy in one of the most horrible ways imaginable, as Elena turned off her humanity, and ultimately decided to burn the entire house to the ground in an effort to explain what happened to her brother.
So what comes next for the character? First and foremost, we are going to be taking a break before new episodes start up again on The CW. The next new episode, entitled “Bring It On,” will air on March 14, and ti will appropriate revolve very much around a cheerleading competition. However, there is going to be way more going on here than just characters shaking around some pom-poms. Now that Elena’s humanity has gone out the door, she is going to be both ready and willing to be as ruthless as humanly possible. This means that she will be sucking some blood, hurting some innocents, and apparently also wandering around Stefan, Damon, and Caroline without any clothes on.
We somehow wonder if Ian Somerhalder’s Damon regrets some of the decisions that he has made already, since now he has a monster running around that is largely his own creation. Nina Dobrev, meanwhile, has to be absolutely loving this. She is getting the opportunity to play everything this season from a new vampire, a girl still trying to display emotion, Katherine and all of her complicated history, and now this cold and callous Elena 2.0 that we have been waiting for honestly ever since the transformation occurred.
What do you think Elena’s new perspective on life is going to mean for some of the other characters? If you want to go back and read our review of Thursday’s “Vampire Diaries” all over again, you can do so over at the link here.
