‘Dancing with the Stars’ rumors: Derek Hough debate; Jacoby Jones campaigns
So who is the token NFL star looking to get on “Dancing with the Stars” this season? It’s none other than one of the heroes of Super Bowl XLVII in Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones.
However, it’s not exactly as though Jones is really doing much campaigning for himself; instead, he’s having other people do it for him. While on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Thursday night, Jimmy asked Jacoby jokingly as a “representative of ABC” whether or not he would interested, and his answer was pretty hilarious: “do polar bears poo on ice”? Since we are assuming here that the answer is “yes,” this must mean that Jones is looking to get into the ballroom for the season starting up in late March.
There is still one thing that constantly makes us interested when it comes to athletes in their prime wanting to be on this show: injury implications. While Donald Driver and Jason Taylor both appeared while still playing, they were also each near the latter part of their careers. Meanwhile, Jacoby is only 28 years old, and has a potentially long career ahead of him as both a receiver and a return man.
In other “Dancing with the Stars” news, Derek Hough is still expressive some ambivalence over whether or not he will be a pro this year after looking exhausted at times in the fall and dealing with some assorted injuries. Hough, who is the most-successful pro in the show’s history, told “Access Hollywood” that he may end up having this season off. However, he did say that he expects to be back for more dancing in the fall. The show may be experiencing some turnover among the pros soon, as Maksim Chmerkovskiy has shown interest in leaving after his contract expires later this year.
