‘The Lying Game’ season 2, episode 5 sneak peek: Sutton learns Kristen’s secret

In the last episode of “The Lying Game” season two, Sutton goes against her biological mother’s request to use her father’s awards ceremony as a platform to reveal the truth about him – that he is not her adoptive father, but actually her biological father.  Kristen’s heart to heart with Sutton affected her deeply as she didn’t realize just how much Kristen loves her, but when Rebecca finds out that Sutton botched her speech and gushed on and on about how amazing Ted and Kristen are, she decides to take matters into her own hands by bringing Sutton Kristen’s journal and telling her that Kristen isn’t being honest about her feelings towards Sutton.

In a new promo for Tuesday’s episode of “The Lying Game” we see Sutton sitting in a car with Rebecca reading over the journal.  Sutton learns that Ted pushed the adoption on Kristen and that Kristen not only wasn’t ready to become a mom to an adopted child, but that sometimes she wished that she could have given Sutton back.  Sutton asks where Rebecca got the journal and she tells her that she found it while she was looking for her.  Sutton is visibly upset about what she’s read and seems angry at Rebecca for showing her the journal in the first place.  Rebecca tells her that she didn’t show it to her to hurt her, but because she feels that Sutton deserves to know the truth about Kristen’s feelings.

While Kristen may have had her doubts in the past about becoming a mother to an adopted child, she clearly had a change of heart and grew to love Sutton as one of her own.  Unfortunately Sutton isn’t thinking clearly and doesn’t see how far their relationship as mother and daughter has progressed because of Rebecca planting seeds of doubt and insecurity in Sutton’s head about their relationship.
