‘Supernatural’ season 8, episode 12 preview: Meet Sam and Dean’s grandfather
Who knew that Henry Winchester was going to look so much like Don Draper? Time travel is not something that is completely foreign to the world of “Supernatural,” but on next week’s new season 8 episode, we are going to be something that is a little bit different from what the show has presented us in the past: time travel that comes from the past to the present.
The details surrounding the appearance of Sam and Dean’s grandfather in the present-day world is still a little bit mysterious, but one thing that is very clear in the first promo of “As Time Goes By” is just how stunned both Sam and Dean appear to be by it. Why in the world is this man here? It is a worthy question, but one that we unfortunately do not have an answer for at this very moment … except that there are skeletons somehow involved.
What we are also a little bit curious about is whether or not this episode will have any bearing at all in the larger story, which revolves mostly around the Winchesters’ attempts to lock away all demons from the world. The last we saw Crowley was attempting to do the same thing to all of the angels, and Castiel was more or less being controlled to do Naomi’s bidding. These one-off episodes can often be entertaining, but sooner or later we do need to get back to the meat of the story. We do know, for example, the Misha Collins and Amanda Tapping will be back, but we do not know when just yet.
