‘American Idol’ notes: Lee DeWyze announcement; season 12 promo

We’re creating a special second “American Idol” notes today largely to focus on something that we have a feeling is going to be rather big from Lee DeWyze: a major announcement about something coming up tomorrow.

The season 9 champ, who has been busy in the past several months both touring and recording, took to his Facebook page on Monday to make the announcement, which has already caused plenty of speculation among his loyal fan following:

“Hey!!! Tomorrow At noon, which is 3pm east coast time.. I have a VERY awesome announcement and can’t wait to share with all of you!!! I’ll be posting a video, so keep you’re eye out and please spread the word!!!”

We’ll let you theorize for yourself just what Lee is planning to announce, though we have a pretty good guess of our own. (Don’t worry: we’ll admit tomorrow if we are wrong or right.)

As for some other news for the show, check out the new “American Idol” season 12 promo below that is by and large sappy, with the focus being on the auditions in New York and a few singers that blow this retooled judging panel away. From our standpoint, though, the real highlight is seeing Keith Urban hide under his chair after listening to someone who must have downright horrified him. (The more of Keith that is shown off here, the more we like the guy. He’s never going to be much of an attention hound, but he feels like a down-to-earth guy and a good judge.) The new season starts Wednesday, so get ready.
