‘The Carrie Diaries’ spoilers: Who will be Carrie’s first?
There has been a lot of debate around the new series “The Carrie Diaries” mainly because this show is being sold to viewers as a prequel to “Sex and the City” – what was Carrie Bradshaw like as a teenager? While the idea surrounding the prequel sounds like a great idea to reel the “Sex and the City” fans back in, the masterminds behind the series have played around with Carrie Bradshaw’s life so significantly that her history on “The Carrie Diaries” does not match up with what has already been established by the hit HBO series.
“The Carrie Diaries” has already messed around with Carrie’s family. In “Sex and the City” Carrie’s father left her when she was just a child and she never had any contact with him since. There was also no mention of any sister on the show except for when she lied to Alexander Petrovsky after embarrassing herself on the phone with him. In “The Carrie Diaries” her mother dies when she is 16 and her father is the one left raising her and her sister Dorritt alone – something that never happened in “Sex and The City”, so if the CW is hoping that those fans are going to tune in to see what Carrie’s life was like before she met up with Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte they may be in for a big disappointment since this is not the same Carrie Bradshaw fans have already come to know and love.
So what else will the new series be changing about her past? Well in “Sex and the City” Carrie revealed that she had her first time with a guy named Seth on his parents pool table after the two smoked drugs together, but in “The Carrie Diaries” producers aren’t sure what direction they want to take on that story line. Executive producer Amy B. Harris spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about this very topic and said that they will be exploring Carrie’s first time on the series. She said: “We’ve definitely been talking about it a lot. We haven’t nailed it down yet. We’re trying to figure it out.”
What is really interesting about all of the interviews out there on “The Carrie Diaries” is that no one has asked the question that everyone really wants to know: Why did they change Carrie Bradshaw’s already established family history if the show is supposed to be a prequel and not an alternate universe? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think about the changes and if you plan to tune in on Monday, January 14th at 8 p.m. for the premiere.

she has a goodlooking, interesting father. That’s better story line.
