New Year’s Day 2013: ‘Storage Wars: New York,’ ‘Bunheads’ marathon lead the way
Since we have already provided you a bit of a rant about the inexplicable decision by NBC to air a new “Parenthood” episode on New Year’s Day with no lead-in whatsoever, it only seems appropriate to also present a few other things that are out there to check out.
If you’re looking for new shows, unfortunately, you’re not going to have much luck. On network TV, the only thing that is first-run save for “Parenthood” is “Emily Owens, MD” on The CW at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, and the network is really just burning that show off since it has already been canceled. (They will be replacing it with “Cult” in the weeks ahead.)
As for cable, “Storage Wars: New York” is going to be premiering at 10:00 p.m. over on A&E, which will hopefully help to answer the all-important question of what do you when two “Storage Wars” franchises is not enough to satisfy a legion of hungry fans. Who knew that this would become the new “CSI” and have three different installments? It’s hard to tell whether or not this is going to fare well, mostly because it depends largely both on the items that are uncovered in these lockers as well as the personalities on the show. (Then again, this is New York: big personalities are guaranteed.)
Elsewhere, we will mostly have a barrage of marathons. The best one is probably on ABC Family, who will be running the entire first season so far of “Bunheads” from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. as a way for new viewers to get hooked or from people who missed an episode to catch up prior to the show’s return with new episodes on January 7.
