NBC’s ‘The Office’ season 9 spoilers: Dwight’s ‘farm’ episode to still air
Even though Rainn Wilson may not be starring on a spin-off of “The Office” anytime soon entitled “The Farm,” we do still have some good news to hand out today: the episode originally planned to be the backdoor pilot for the show is still going to air, albeit a little bit later than expected early next year and with some minor changes put in place.
In speaking on this subject in a brand-new interview with TVLine, the show’s returning executive producer in Greg Daniels had the following to say about just what the show is hoping to pull off with this episode now that the pilot has been rejected by NBC:
“We’re not going to air exactly what it was, because it has certain aspects that were appropriate for a pilot of a new show … We’re going to shoot a little additional material to make it fit into the season more.”
Is there still a silver lining with this news? Based on what we are hearing now, the answer here is “definitely.” Thanks to the decision to not make a spin-off show all about Dwight, Daniels hinted that the endgame for Dwight could now change to something that makes fans of him and Angela has a couple rather pleased. Angela Kinsey was not set to star in the spin-off show, which suggested to many that she and Dwight were not going to be wrapping up their story on this show together. However, anything could happen now that we know for sure just when Mr. Shrute’s story is coming to an official conclusion.
